A three-day Exhibition with participation from 40 Hindu Seva organiztions was held at Jaigopal Garodia Vivekananda Vidyalaya, Anna Nagar, Chennai 600 040, from February 06, 2009 to February 08, 2009. This was the first exhibition of its kind jointly sponsored by Hindu Seva Organizations, and not surprisingly, attracted huge crowds on all the three days.
Samskrita Bharati, Chennai, had put up a Stall and also a science exhibition – “Science in Samskritam” which was visited by more than 3000 persons everyday. There were big banner displays adorning the backdrop on all the three sides with ‘Science in Samskritam’ charts adding support to our cause. Two visual displays on TV and PC screens continuosly played video clips and lessons of Spoken Samskritam classes which attracted large onlookers to our stall and they favourably responded to registration process of our classes, direct and correspondence courses.
We also had a separate “Science in Samskritam” exhibition in another room where we displayed large number of charts under categories – Astronomy, Anotomy, Archeology, Biology, Botony, Chemistry, Mathematics, Medicine, Physics, Surgery and Surgical instruments, Water resources and Water harvesting, etc., with authentic and appropriate Samskrita slokas in support from Vedas, Shastraas and other scriptural evidences.
Both our stall and science exhibition attracted rave comments from visitors. Many had registered their names for forthcoming sibirams/shikshanakendrams/correspondence courses. Some of them were willing to host 10 day spoken samskritam classes in their areas. Visitor response was overwhelming and appreciative of Samskrita Bharati’s efforts in popularizing the language as lingua franca.
Prof. R.Ramachandran, Secretary Samskrita Bharati, conducted an exhilarating quiz program in Samskritam which was a thrilling and lasting experience for the huge audience which included right from children to elders.
